While the experience of medical trauma is far from being a new phenomenon, in today’s climate of heightened anxiety and isolation due to the Pandemic, it is more likely to be an issue of concern.
Whether you are a mental health professional, helping your clients heal from traumatic medical events/chronic illness, or a health care professional on the front lines of patient care, this training will empower you to meet the complex needs of people suffering the devastating effects of unrecognized and untreated medical trauma.
The Counseling Department of Xavier University offers this one-of-a-kind, Certificate in Medical Trauma Informed Care, for those working in the health care and counseling industries. Admission Requirements
Candidates applying to the certificate program must have earned at least a Bachelor’s degree and submit official academic transcripts as well as a statement of interest.
Graduation Requirements
Successful completion of the certificate program requires that students earn the grade of “S” in all three courses in the sequence, as well as successful completion of the capstone project. Students requiring an “IP” grade will earn their certificates following successful completion of COUN 703, Capstone in Medical Trauma.
