HIST 319 - Health & Medicine in Britain 3 Credit Hours This class explores the historical development of British attitudes and policies regarding health and medical care from the late 1700s to the present day. We will examine popular, medical, and political perspectives on individual health and public health throughout the semester and consider how those perspectives intersected with broader social, economic, and intellectual trends. We will also be attentive to the different ways in which historians have explored health and health care in the past, specifically addressing different types of history (including intellectual, political, social, and cultural).
