THEO 422 - Solidarity: Possibility/Limits 3 Credit Hours THEO 422 is dedicated to exploring how solidarity (understood as “social charity,” a commitment to the common good, and mutually respectful, responsible, and inclusive relationships for the just ordering of society) can be realized in the face of social divisions and unjust inequalities. The readings will draw from a variety of views and voices so students can practice rigorous textual interpretation, analysis, and application. Additionally, this course invites students to: (a) reflect on their own experiences of crossing barriers and boundaries; (b) discern one’s personal and professional vocation as it relates to solidarity; (c) imagine and strategize the beliefs, values, relationships, and practices that will advance inclusive solidarity in the world.
