 |  HIST 310 - History of Rome3 Credit Hours
 This course explores the history of ancient Rome to gain an understanding and critical appreciation of Roman civilization and the historiography of ancient Rome through a study of its history, government, art, literature, social development, and prominent personalities.  Primary source readings will reveal Roman views on politics, warfare, slavery, women, sexuality, and religion among other aspects of Roman life. The course will also focus on
historiography, that is, how historians have interpreted the past. Through such means, students will increase their understanding of another society and their ability to reflect and think critically about change in a political system over time. This course may have as its focus different topics from different periods of Roman history.
