EDAD 500 - Curriculum and Behavioral MTSS 3 Credit Hours The purpose of this course is to provide students an in-depth and introduction to the foundational concepts and recent history of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in primary and secondary school settings. The course content will be presented through a critical theory lens and a social justice frame of reference. MTSS is a comprehensive, collaborative model designed to support all learners. Tier one strategies are emphasized but tiers two and three are addressed. Students will learn of the rationale behind and intended outcomes of multi-tiered systems of support in K-12 settings; how these systems are often organized and function; and how to critically evaluate the viability of MTSS/PBIS and the development of interventions.
