MGMT 616 - Ethics and Leadership 3 Credit Hours Our objective in this course is to embark on a journey in self-growth and development so that we emerge as strong ethical leaders. In today’s global workplace, leaders are faced with the challenges of developing a vision for their organizations, formulating and communicating objectives to key stakeholder groups, mobilizing resources around opportunities, combating threats without compromising on ethical practices or principles, and creating a culture to deliver on the opportunities. Via a simple model that will serve as the foundation for ethical leadership, and application exercises surrounding the key variables, our journey will culminate with a better understanding of the challenges listed above and an understanding of the needs of the multiple stakeholder groups such as shareholders/owners, customers, employees, suppliers, and special interest groups that influence the actions of any organization. We will be drawing on theories of ethics and social responsibility, social and human capital, and social justice in this course.
