CJUS 621 - Juvenile Justice 3 Credit Hours Critiques the development of social control of child behavior in the U.S. from its historical roots to contemporary times. Presents and analyzes legal trends in juvenile court and correctional operations and evaluates contemporary practice and methodology in the juvenile justice system and in the adult system. Landmark legal cases and their impact on current practice are discussed. Concepts such as waiver, status offenders, and violence in contemporary society are given special attention in relation to their ethical and legal dimensions.
