Primary Education (P-5), B.S. with Special Education minor (Dual License)

This is a dual licensure program that prepares candidates to obtain both a P-5 Primary Education teaching license and a P-5 Intervention Specialist teaching license within 126 credit hours

Requirements for the Primary Education major
Undergraduate Core Curriculum
See Undergraduate Core Curriculum Includes: - Science requirement must be met with one natural science (CHEM or PHYS or BIOL) and one scientific perspective elective course.
- Humanities elective fulfilled in major with EDCH 324 .
- Social Sciences requirement is included in the major requirements with EDFD 110 and EDEC 210
- E/RS Focus Elective that meets another core requirement with THEO 316
- A 2.5 cumulative overall GPA is required for admission to program and must be maintained for the Bachelor of Science degree. A 3.0 GPA must be maintained in major.
Major Requirements:
- See “Steps for Admission and Continual Progress for Licensure in Early/Primary Childhood Education.”
- Also see “Student Handbook for Primary and Middle Childhood.”
- A 3.0 GPA must be maintained in the major. Students must receive a “B-” or higher in courses prefixed with EDEC, EDEL, EDFD, and EDSP or retake in subsequent semesters.
72 hours of courses in Primary Education for blended program: Required Minor
Students enrolled in this program will receive a minor in Special Education. 15 additional hours of courses in Primary Intervention Specialist for blended program. |
