ENGR 366 - Optics: Phys & Engineering 3 Credit Hours This course provides an introduction to optical science with elementary engineering applications. Topics covered in geometrical optics include: ray racing, aberrations, lens design, apertures and stops, photometry. Topics covered in wave optics include: phase and group velocity, Laser operation, polarization, interference, fiber optics, Fraunhofer diffraction, image formation, resolution. Analytical tools used in optical design are emphasized.
Prerequisites: PHYS172 and MATH220
Co-requisites: ENGR367
