ENGL 351 - Jewish American Literature 3 Credit Hours This course examines Jewish American literature from the late 19th century to the present, with particular emphasis on prose fiction and poetry. Themes include immigration, assimilation, anti-Semitism, the effect of the Holocaust, gender relations, Jewish religious belief and spirituality, Jewish textual traditions and American/Israeli relations. Frequently studies authors include Reznikoff, Bellow, Roth, Malamud, Ozick, Rothenberg and Grossman. This course will include a research assignment. Students are strongly encouraged to complete ENGL 210 Methods Workshop and/or ENGL 205: Lit & the Moral Imagination or equivalent before enrolling.
Prerequisites: Undergraduate level ENGL101 Minimum grade of D or Undergraduate level ENGL115 Minimum grade of D
